Saamelaiskäräjät: Uusi hallitusohjelma tukee saamelaiskulttuuria

Saamelaiskäräjät uutisoi uuden hallitusohjelman saamelaisten kannalta historialliseksi. Hallitusohjelma on ensimmäinen lajissaan, ottaen tavoitteeksi saamelaiskulttuurin ja saamelaisten oikeuksien kokonaisvaltaisen kehittämisen. Saamelaiskäräjien mukaan on merkittävä saavutus, että hallitusohjelma asettaa tavoitteeksi ILO 169-sopimuksen ratifioinnin. Lisäksi hallitusohjelmassa sitoudutaan muun muassa:

Workshop: Indigenous Peoples, Marginalized Populations and Climate Change

An international workshop on indigenous peoples, marginalized populations and climate change will be organized in Mexico City, Mexico 19-21 July 2011.

The workshop is convened by the UN University (UNU), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Raportti: Saamelaisten perinteisen tiedon turvaamisessa terästäydyttävä

The new expert report submitted to the Ministry of the Environment in Finland highlights the need to preserve the traditional knowledge of Sami people in Finland. The report provides 28 recommendations on how to improve protection of the traditional knowledge related to biodiversity. The report is available in Finnish here.
