Submitted by Administrator on 22 July, 2011 - 11:17.Saamelaiskäräjät uutisoi uuden hallitusohjelman saamelaisten kannalta historialliseksi. Hallitusohjelma on ensimmäinen lajissaan, ottaen tavoitteeksi saamelaiskulttuurin ja saamelaisten oikeuksien kokonaisvaltaisen kehittämisen. Saamelaiskäräjien mukaan on merkittävä saavutus, että hallitusohjelma asettaa tavoitteeksi ILO 169-sopimuksen ratifioinnin. Lisäksi hallitusohjelmassa sitoudutaan muun muassa
• vahvistamaan porotalouden kehittämistä ja joustavoittamaan porotalouden vahingonkorvausjärjestelmää

The new expert report submitted to the Ministry of the Environment in Finland highlights the need to preserve the traditional knowledge of Sami people in Finland. The report provides 28 recommendations on how to improve protection of the traditional knowledge related to biodiversity. The report is available in Finnish here
